> DevelopmentSummary of Projects funded by the Embassy around China Shanxi In 2005/6, Irish Aid funding was made available by the Embassy to help build a new primary school in Shang Si village in southern Shanxi. The village was in desperate need of a new school as several classrooms had become uninhabitable and facilities were poor. The school was officially opened at the start of the 2006/7 academic year. Irish Aid funding paid for dormitories for the children, a canteen and the perimeter wall of the school.
