Ireland China Relations
Ireland and China’s excellent relations have blossomed significantly over the past decade through high level political visits, cultural festivals, strengthening trade links and an increased exchange of our most important asset: our people. The visits of then Vice President Xi Jinping to Ireland in February 2012 and of the Taoiseach in March 2012 were important steps forward in the relationship, culminating in the agreement to form a Strategic Partnership for Mutual Benefit.
Irish people are becoming increasingly interested in China –its rich culture, its friendly people and its greatly increased importance in global economic affairs. At the same time, the Irish Government, its representatives, Irish organisations and networks are working to raise awareness levels in China of Ireland, its place in the world, its people and all that it has to offer.
